Altenew Washi

Happy Monday! I hope you had an Easter weekend filled with family and friends! I love the Easter long-weekend four days to re-charge and re-connect. Also, lots of time set aside in my craft room!

I picked-up the new Altenew washi tapes last week and let me tell you they have my little heart! We celebrated one of my cousin's birthdays over the weekend and I had to use one of the washi's on it.

The starting point was obviously the washi, and I love that this role has color options. I didn't get further than the blue and pink option, not sure if there are more but such a great idea. I knew I wanted  the tape on the bottom, so I took my card base and placed the washi.

I then stamped my Altenew Painted flowers (probably my favourite set by them) in some Catherine Pooler inks, It's a Boy and Something Borrowed to match the blue on the tape. I die cut the flowers and took another piece of Neena Solar White 80lbs, sized the frame and used a Lawn Fawn Stitched Border die.

I am thrilled that more companies are releasing great French sentiment die cuts (my entire family is French-speaking) I die cut the Bonne Fete from a StickIt, Fun foam and gold card stock sandwich. I placed my flowers around the sentiment to make sure I liked the placement and then glued everything down. I finished off with some new Studio Katia iridescent sequins and some Nuvo Glitter pen on the flowers.

Thanks so much for taking the time!

Lawn Fawnatics Challenge 25 - Color Inspiration :)

Happy Monday! I think all crafters can relate to the inspiration of everything rainbow! The Lawn Fawnatics Challenge Blog turns one and the inspiration for the challenge is color inspiration!

I was lucky enough to take a class taught by Jenn Shurkus over the weekend at my local scrapbook store - Scrapbook Centrale aka my happy place! I can see why she decided to start teaching full-time, she is gracious and patient and really takes the time with her participants. I have recently begun teaching myself and I am so happy I went, you learn from someone like her - her personality and passion are infectious!

So for my card, if any of you follow this blog you will undoubtably expect me to do a rainbow theme! LOL

Not only did I go rainbow I went with wonky Fro-Yo! I just felt like having fun with this project. What better than pile of rainbow frozen yogurt from the Sweet Friends stamp set. I stamped my first image on the top and re-stamped it on a sticky PostIt note and fussy cut my mask. I place it on top of the first and continued down, I did need to cut a second mask but not the whole image just the cup.

Once I was done I used my Copics to color the images. I then chose one of the fantastic Really Rainbow Petite 6x6 papers for the background and die cut that using my largest Stitched Rectangle die.  I cut down my A2 size panel with the frozen yogurt and decided to add a little detail by using one of the stitched border dies. I then added "sprinkles" to the frozen yogurt using my white Gellyroll pen. I put my card together and stamped the sentiment also from the Sweet Friends stamp set on Lawn Fawn black card stock and white embossed it. The sequins are new from Studio Katia and they have a really pretty iridescent finish to them.

Go check out the challenge, they always have super fun themes.
Thanks for taking the time,
Kim

Avery Elle Party Pals

Happy hump day crafty friends! For those of you that follow my blog, you will undoubtedly know how much I love a good critter. So when I saw this Party Pals set by Avery Elle, I had to have it!

My best childhood friend has a birthday this week and I have a standing tradition that I make one card from my husband and I and one card from the family pets (strange, but true). So on this one, I decided to feature the cats from the set and turn them into my cat Tigrou (grey tabby) and her cat Cooper (orange tabby).

To start, I knew I wanted to add some of the new Lawn Fawn 6x6 Really Rainbow Petite paper, I love this paper pad I am on my second already... So, that made my color choices easy enough!  My friends favorite color is purple, so that also had to be a major element.

I stamped my images using my Misti with Lawn Fawn jet black Ink and colored the Happy sentiment also from the Party Pals set in rainbow order and used three of the same colors for the balloons in the same set. I then colored my little guys (all Copics for these images) in tabby fashion.

I used the co-ordinating dies and then took my piece of Neena Solar White and die cut the border with a Lawn Fawn stitched border die (cut off the excess of the A2 size panel). I then used a small piece of the rainbow card stock and glued that to the card base. I then glued fun foam on the back of the white panel and placed it on my card base.  I glued all of my elements only to have forgotten to stamp the black birthday sentiment. Thankfully I had used a full piece of fun foam therefore making the stamping a lot smoother.  I used 3m foam tape for the images and added some rainbow gems by Lucy's little things.

Thanks for taking the time!
