CAS-ual Friday's Winter Blues!

Happy Friday crafty friends! Friday means time for another CAS-ual Friday's Challenge! This week it's all about the winter blues!

For my project, I decided on lots o' snow hills for my background using an older stencil and some Distress Oxide Ink in Salty Ocean all on Neena Solar White (80lbs) card stock.  I then used my Distress Sprayer to give the added effect of snow.

I then die cut my Funky Flakes (my favourite go-to snowflakes in my stash) from MFT glitter paper in blue and  silver. Once I glued the flakes together I chose the fantastic Joyeux Noel from the Noel Fri-dies. This is also a go-to die for me as my family is mostly french canadian and good french sentiments are very difficult to find. For the sentiment I used silver mirror paper from Tonic in a fun foam and StickIt sandwich. I put my elements on the card base and to finish off my project, I used mix of sequins in blues and sparkling clear.

CFC187 - Gratitude with Altitude

Happy Friday crafty friends! I am so looking forward to a weekend with no work in sight! At least not right now, lol!  Every other Friday means time for another CAS-ual Friday's Challenge!

The theme this week is Gratitude with Altitude!

I thought what set better to display altitude then the fantastic Tutu set :). I paired it with the Thanks from the Smiling Fri-Dies. I wanted colour on the project since the ballerina is black so I opted for a rainbow offset sentiment with my thanks. I die cut the sentiment in an array of rainbow colors and stacked them offset to see the rainbow effect.  I then colored in my Ballerina's flowers with a mix of rainbow Zig Clean Color Real brush markers.

I then added a rainbow assortment of sequins, Nuvo drops and finally three hearts from the Fun-Fetti Fri-Dies.

CFC183 - Shaker Cards

Happy Friday crafty friends! I am so excited another summer weekend in-store for us in Montreal. Fitting as I travel to Edmonton for work next week and it snowed there this week...eek!

And it's time for another fun Cas-ual Friday's Challenge! This week we are focusing on shaker cards!

I used the fantastic new Mermaids stamp set for this one! Love these new products by CAS-ual Friday's.  I started by masking my "ground" with 2 inch PostIt tape and used a mix off Salty Ocean and Mermaid Lagoon Distress Inks for the water. I then used a Hero Arts waves stencil and went over it again with the same colors only with a more intense application.

I then switched the mask to do the bottom in Antique Linen and Gathered Twigs Distress Inks and added some dot detail with my Gathered Twigs Distress Marker and my white gel pen.

I then took my Misti out and lined up my Mermaid, sentiment (which I cut for placement) and the accessories from the Mermaids stamp set and stamped them all in Versafine Onyx Black ink. I added a bit of shimmery gel pen detail on the mermaid and the accessories.

I lined the sides with 3m foam tape and filled it with Hero Arts Ocean sequins. Once the card was put together I added some red hearts from Fun-Fetti on top.

Lawn Fawnatics Challenge - Create a Scene!

I love scene building, there is something so soothing about sitting down and just designing and creating an elaborate project! This card is for the new Challenge over at Lawn Fawnatics - Create a Scene!

I created a card base that would accommodate a business size envelope and it will also be great for a Christmas card to act as a money gift card. I decided to size it this way because I wanted to use ALL the penguins from Lawn Fawn lol! There are still sets of penguins not represented on this project.

I started with a piece of Bristol paper for my background and stamped the snow from the Snow Cool set and white embossed it. I then used Salty Ocean and Blueprint Sketch Distress Inks on the background.

I stamped all of my images on Neena Solar White from Here we go a-waddling, Winter Penguin and I stamped the bench from Winter in the Park directly on the base panel.  I colored my images with Copics and then added some glitter to act as snow on some of the hats and the top of the lampposts.

I die cut my snow using Lawn Fawn Stitched Border dies I put my card together and decided that the lampposts needed a little something so I used the bow die from the new Mini Wreath set and glued them on. I then added some of the great accessory music notes and bubble from the Here we go a-waddling set and a sentiment from that same set white embossed on Lawn Fawn black card stock.

I colored the shadow on the snow with some Cool Grey Copic markers and some sequins to finish off my card.

Thanks so much for taking the time!

Summer Birthday!

I have so been off the grid over my vacation, my husband went back to work yesterday therefore I now have more time for my craft room over the last of my vacation!

I had such fun making this project, it's a tri-fold birthday "ocean" card.

I started by cutting my Bristol card stock to 5.5 x 12 I then used a mix of Distress Inks on the entire background. On top I used a Hero Arts waves stencil with the same Distress Inks mix I then sprayed the entire piece with my Distress sprayer for texture.  I die cut my ocean floor to 12 inches and used a Lawn Fawn Stitched border die for the top. I also used Distress Inks for the impression of sand. I then scored everything at 4inches and then glued my ocean bottom on the base.

For the sharks and fishes I used a mix of Avery Elle's Hello Chum and Lawn Fawn's Duh-Nuh. The colored fish are from Lawn Fawn and the black are by AE in the Hello Chum set.

I colored all my images with various Copic Sketch markers. The sentiments are from Hello Chum and are embossed in some of my new WOW Glitter embossing powders, this one is Teal. I finished off the project with glossy accents and a sprinkling of sequins!

The space in the middle panel will be for my message.

Thanks so much for taking the time, I will have more projects up this week!

CFC179 - Dies Only, No Stamps!

Happy Friday crafty friends! Time for another CAS-ual Fridays Challenge over at the Challenge Blog!  I am currently away on summer vacation so my blog has been quiet over the last little while! Feels good to take a few minutes and give the blog some care!

Rainbows always make me happy, so I picked a few of my favourite coloured card stock and used the Thanks die from the CAS-ual Friday's Smiling Fri-Dies set. I die cut my paper with fun foam and StickIt on the back for dimension and to make placement easier on the background.  I used coordinating Distress Inks to give my card stock some depth and then placed my die cuts.

I felt it needed a little something more so I die cut a few of the 4-petal Fri-dies to add in a few places with coordinating sequins.  I then added some Nuvo Drops also in rainbow order.  As simple as that!

CFC170 - No Dies Allowed!

Happy Friday crafty friends! Not only is it time for another CAS-ual Friday's Challenge but I get to travel to Denver for work today and I will be meeting the owner of this wonderful stamp company!!!

The challenge is "no dies allowed"-- I have to tell you I never realized how much I used my dies until this project!

I used the Pretty Posies stamp set (they really are pretty posies) and stamped them with Distress Ink in  Old Paper because I wanted to use my Prismacolor pencils and try some no-line colouring.  Again, if you follow my blog you will have seen that I am trying to use colours that I don't use on a regular basis to try and stretch my palette a little.  I decided to go with blues and purples and I am happy with the way the flowers and leaves turned out.  My sentiment is from the CAS-ual Friday's Wallfower stamp set and I added a mix of sequins in the same colours.  I then added lavender coloured card stock as a mat in the back and angled the entire top panel to a card base and cut the excess off.

International Woman's Day - A Penny Black Flower for all the ladies!

Happy hump day and International Woman's Day! My card today is for all the ladies out there! All women should design a life they love!

I have been loving flowers lately and I have always gravitated to Penny Black flowers. Their new release is certainly not an exception! This slapstick cling stamp is called A Moment in Time.  I used my Distress Inks in Abandoned Coral and Picked Raspberry for this one.

I used the Misti to be able to stamp the image multiple times, I began by stamping it with Abandoned Coral and used my water brush to fill-in the color. After it dried, I put some Picked Raspberry on an acrylic block and painted in some pink in the shadow areas.  I then re-stamped it completely in the Abandoned Coral to get the detailed lines back on the image.  I then determined where the centre would be and used my dark brown Tombow marker by colouring directly on the spot on the stamp and then with my water brush I spread the color.

For the stem I used the same process only with Mowed Lawn and Peeled Paint Distress Inks.  My sentiment is from the Boss Babe stamp set by My Favorite Things the pink in is Hollyhock by Simon Says Stamp and the black is Versafine Onyx Black.

Have an awesome International Woman's Day!
Thanks for taking the time!

Birthday selfies for a friend!

Happy Fri-yay! I am so happy, I took a long weekend I go back to the office only Tuesday! Lots of crafty time this weekend!

This card is a birthday card for a dear friend and when I saw that MFT set with the "believe in your selfie" sentiment I knew it was meant for her!

The "Bellas" in the selfies are by Stamping Bella, I do believe the two on the right are discontinued but the Audrey Hepburn bella may still be available. I Copic colored my images and die cut them from the Mama Elephant small polaroid die. I then die cut the white frame and the backing frame from Lawn Fawn cardstock (the new Rainbow Plaid paper pack). I lightly inked my plaid stencil on the background panel and then die cut it using my go-to Wonky Stitched Rectangle die by Avery Elle. I then stamped my sentiment in Versafine onyx black and Simon Says Stamp Doll Pink. I put the frames on the base panel and added a little washy tape to the top.

I added a few Lawn Fawn hearts and some sequins to finish off the card!

Thanks for taking the time!

CFC168 - One Layer Wonder

Happy Friyay! So happy it's the end of the week :) Added bonus warm temperatures at the end of February! Snow is melting and the mood is good!

Time for a CAS-ual Fridays Challenge! This week is all about one layer cards. I have always struggled with one layer! But I am happy with the way it turned out probably because it is rainbow colours!

For this one I used the CAS-ual Friday WTF and Shenanigans stamp sets.  I used a variety of inks both die and pigment.  Some SSS, Hero Arts and Mama Elephant.  For the big Happy Birthday sentiment I used my favorite black Versafine Onyx.  I find it gives the best and a crisp impression.  I finished it all off with a mix of sequins (not sure if that hinders the "one layer" theory but I figure it's an embellishment)

Happy flowers in winter!!

Happy Monday! Kim here with you this morning and I am sharing a bright happy floral card! I am not of fan of winter, and like many of you the snow has decided to invade in February this year!

I started with a Strathmore Bristol card base cut to 5.5 x 12 which are the measurements indicated by the directions for the fantastic Concord and 9th Hugs die.  I lined up my die as directed in the video on the Concord and 9th blog and then folded my card accordingly.  I then took the Winnie and Walter In Bloom: Addie's Garden stamps (I simply love all of their In Bloom collection) and stamped my images with Versamark Ink.  I only needed one mask of the larger flower to be able to stamp the other florals and leaves. I did have to be carful of warping because I had to heat emboss each image as I went.

I then took my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers (two of each shade) and my water brush to color my images.  I then die cut the hugs die (only the word) out of black card stock and cut them to size. I wanted a shadow to make the die pop off the card. I topped off the card with my go to Tailored Expressions sequins.

Have a great week!

CFC167 - Pink, Red and White!

It's Fri-Yay! That also means it's time for another challenge over at the CAS-ual Fridays Challenge Blog! Valentine's Day is next week so what better then a Pink, Red and White theme :)

I wanted to use one of my new favorite techniques for this card, craft foam, StickIt and specialty paper!

I started by die cutting my Neena Solar White card panel and stamping my sentiments from the Shenanigans stamps set in pink and red pigment inks. I then die cut multiples in pink glitter paper and red shiny card stock with a die from the CAS-ual Fridays Funky Round Tag Fri-Dies set.  The die is the same as the images from the Exclamations stamp set which I also used.

I laid out my dies to see where best to stamp the accompanying images in the same inks as the sentiment.  Once I was happy with the stamping, I placed my die cuts and cut the excess off the sides.

I added some craft foam to the back of the entire panel for more dimension and secured the panel to the card base and added a few sequins.

Shellabrate!!!

I had such fun making this card! I am in love with sea turtles, anytime I travel and the city has an aquarium I have to go only to see the sea turtles! So when I saw this set by Waffle Flower on the Butterfly Reflections on-line shop I had to have it for me!

I started with a piece of Strathmore Bristol paper and used a mix of Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean and Faded Jeans with some masks that I freehand cut to make my waves.  I sprayed the paper with my Distress Sprayer, once that dried I took a Tim Holtz/Sizzix Stencil (Dot Fade) and added a bit of Nuovo Tanzanite Glitter Paste (LOVE that stuff!). The Tanzanite has a mix of blue and lavender glitter, so pretty! I then stamped and coloured my sea turtles with my Copics. I wanted a shaker card so I stamped my sentiment on the Acetate using my StaZon white and I used my Misiti to be able to re-stamp for the best impression.

The outer frame is by MFT and I cut it from MFT Lavender Glitter paper. I used many different sequins in blue, lavender and clear.

Thanks so much for taking the time!

Spring colours!

I needed spring flowers! February is my least favourite month, but at least it's the shortest month of the year!

I started with Strathmore Watercolour Paper and cut it to 5.5 x 8.5 scored it at 4.25. I then placed the entire card base on my Misti.  I used the Penny Black Fresh Slapstick Cling and started with my Distress Stains but found it was too difficult to spread on a flower stamp that had them so close together. I really wanted definition so I took my Distress Markers out and had a much easier time. I used Wilted Violet, Picked Raspberry, Abandoned Coral, Worn Lipstick and Mowed Lawn. Once I stamped the outlines, I then used my matching Distress Ink pads and water coloured the flowers to add more definition.  I used Tumbled Glass for the added blue around the flowers. I then used Distress Paints to flick on some black and brass type "splotches".

I used a sentiment from Mama Elephant and added a variety of sequins!

Thanks for taking the time!

CFC166 - Music to my Ears!

Time for another fantastic challenge over at the CAS-ual Fridays Challenge Blog!

The challenge is all about Music to my Ears! For those of you familiar with the CAS-ual Fridays stamps and Fri-Dies collections, you will know that the music inspired product is simply wonderful!

I started with a Neena Solar White panel and used a mix of Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry, Candied Apple and Wilted Violet Distress Inks.  It takes patience on Neena Card stock but the results I find are worth it!  I then used a sentiment (You are the song in my Heart) from the Love Notes stamp set and used the same Distress Inks to get a tone on tone impression all over the background. I die cut my panel with a circle die and the Double Note Fri-Die from gold glitter paper with foam on the back for dimension.  I then die cut a circle frame and used gold embossing powder for the opening.  I turned the circle into a shaker, before putting the card together I felt it needed a little more so I added VersaMark Ink along the edges of the Distress panel and used the same gold embossing powder.  I put the card together and added my Vellum sentiment (also embossed in gold) from the same Love Notes stamp set and put the card together. I, of course, topped it off with a variety of sequins!

Needed a summer-like project!

I don't know about you, but I am not a fan if winter.  I don't know why I still live in Montreal in the winter months.  It hasn't been too cold or successive snow storms but we have had a mixed bag of precipitation which is frustrating.  So, I needed to be on a beach! What better than a fun beach scene featuring Lawn Fawn!

I used Octopi my Heart, Mermaid for You (rock and sentiment) stamp sets and the tree is from Critters from the Past.  I Copic coloured the images then used the coordinating dies.  For my background I die cut a Neena Solar White panel with the largest of the smaller Dotted Squares. I then used the Stitched Hillside Borders and the Spring Showers cloud dies to cut masks.  I used a mix of Tumbled Glass and Salty Ocean Distress Inks for the water and only Tumbled Glass for the sky/clouds. I then die cut another square and used one of the Simple Stitched Hillside Borders for my "beach" then used a mix of Antique Linen and Gathered Twigs Distress Inks. I added some dot detail with the Gathered Twigs and Ground Espresso Distress Markers along with my White Gellyroller.

I stamped my sentiment with mix of Lawn Fawn Pink Flamingo Ink and Versafine Onyx Black. I then put the card together and added some sequins.

Thanks for taking the time!

Everything Turns to Gold!

Time for another CAS-ual Fridays Challenge!!! This week, the challenge turns gold for CFC165!

I actually used watercolour paper for the texture and more yellow-toned colour. I like the warmth it added with the gold instead of pure white.

I used the Truth Is set for the flowers and the sentiment is from MWAH. I used my Misti for stamp placement and to be able to stamp multiple times with my VersaMark Ink. I felt this was a good idea due to the texture on my watercolour paper.  I added fine gold embossing powder to both the flowers and sentiment.  I added a little Copic shading to the blooms using Y26 and Y28.  For those of you familiar with Copics and the Y28, it has an actual gold tone/shimmer (best way I can describe it). I used the more deep yellow Y26 to blend slightly. I like the way it turned out! I then die cut a gold glitter frame and offset the watercolour top panel for the glitter to show through slightly.

I then die cut some hearts from the CAS-ual Friday's Fun-Fetti Fri-Dies and placed them with some sequins to finish off the card!

Altenew and a rainbow

I don't know about you, but I am in serious need of happy colours! What better than a rainbow and Altenew flowers!

I needed happy colouring, it is a day of freezing rain here in Montreal. Happy to still be on vacation but the grey day imposed the need for fun colour! I used the Altenew Adore You stamp set with my Misti and lots of masking. I used Copics for my flowers:
Pinks: RV52, RV55 and RV17
 Orange: YR01, YR04 and YR09
Yellow: Y11, Y18 and Y19
Pool: BG10, BG11 and BG13
Purple: V12, V04 and V06

The sentiment Hugs die is by Simon Says Stamp and the Sending is by Mama Elephant. I topped it off with a rainbow of sequins and some gems!

Thanks for taking the time!

Time for another Cas-ual Friday's Challenge :)

Happy Friday all! One more week of work for me then I am lucky enough to have a two-week break with family and friends. I can't wait to recharge my batteries for 2017!

I always love a new challenge over at CAS-ual Friday's :) My project this week features the fantastic Funny Flakes dies.  I am simply in-love with these dies, the design of the snowflakes is amazing! This is my second project this week featuring them and I will have more between now and Christmas!

The challenge this week is CFC163 - Christmas and Hanukkah

I made seven of these tags in a variety of colours, I just couldn't stop! Lol I have a picture lower in this post that shows the seven tags.  I used a variety of glitter paper and shiny cardstock for my snowflake dies and I decided to use Kraft to really showcase the design of those dies.  The sentiment is from the fantastic CAS-ual Friday's Snowy Sayings set and I embossed all of the sentiments in white. I put a variety of sequins in the centre of the snowflakes, some twine and voila!

CAS-ual Friday's Funny Flakes

I have been so enjoying the Funny Flakes die set by CAS-ual Fridays Stamps :) This card is for one of our favourite couples!

I did inlayed die cutting for this one with a mix of red mirrored cardstock and silver glitter cardstock. I really love the effect that is gives the snowflakes :)  The sentiment is a die by Simon Says Stamp, always tough to find french sentiments I love the scale of this one. I topped everything off with sequins!

Thanks for taking the time!
